For distributors and retailers, festival 2026 is effectively one continuous season: Sharad Navratri 11–19 October, Dussehra 20 October, Karwa Chauth 29 October, and the Diwali five days from 6–10 November. Splitting those ten weeks into four dated phases — finalise, order, top up, close out — is the difference between selling through and stocking out.
Phase 1 — Finalise your SKU list (by 20 September)
- Review last year's sell-through by SKU, not by category — the fastest and slowest movers decide the mix.
- List both pooja lines (camphor, hawan samagri, roli, kumkum, kalawa, guggal) and early color lines (rangoli).
- Confirm MOQs with your manufacturer: gulal from 50 kg, wet rang from 20 kg / 2 cartons, most pooja lines from one bag (20–50 kg by variety), camphor and guggal by the carton.
Phase 2 — Place primary orders (21 September – 5 October)
Standard wholesale lead time is 2–3 weeks ex-Hathras, so orders confirmed in this window arrive before Navratri on 11 October. If you are running private label, this phase has already started: artwork must be approved roughly 2–3 weeks before dispatch, which for 2026 means September sign-offs at the latest.
Phase 3 — Navratri sell-through and the mid-October top-up (11–28 October)
- Track daily offtake from day one of Navratri — it is the most reliable predictor of your Diwali volumes.
- Place the top-up order by 15 October so it lands before Karwa Chauth (29 October) and stays on shelf through Diwali.
- Watch the repeat-purchase SKUs: camphor, hawan samagri and tilak sets sell multiple times per household through the month.
Phase 4 — Diwali peak and wind-down (6–12 November)
Lakshmi Puja falls on Sunday, 8 November, so plan staffing and stock depth for a weekend of last-minute buying on 7–8 November, followed by Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj tail demand. After 12 November, exchange slow SKUs while goodwill is high, and open the Holi 2027 conversation with your supplier — capacity booking for spring starts in the same quarter.
